To be honest, I thought this would be one of those topics that not many people would have an opinion about, so I was pleasantly surprised to read your arguments.

I think the reality is that our privacy disappeared with the invention of mobile phones. I read an interview with an FBI agent recently. He said that when he started working, people in law enforcement used to joke about how great it would be if they could persuade every citizen to carry around a tracking device everywhere they went. He then said, “We never imagined that people would start doing it voluntarily!”

Some people argue that the younger generations will never even understand the concept of privacy because they are used to sharing almost all their personal information with everybody through social media like Facebook and Twitter.

An Australian friend of mine said she was horrified to see the kinds of things her teenage nieces were posting on Facebook, and so she sat them down for a serious talk on the subject. That must be a very difficult topic for parents to deal with, so I’m glad I don’t have any kids!

Here is some feedback on your comments.

I don’t really want to be monitored my phone calls or emails by the government
I don’t really want my phone calls or emails to be monitored by the government.

some innocent Muslim university appicants must have been refused to enter just because they were Muslims.
… must have been refused entry just because they were Muslims.

I don’t want to be monitored my private life by anyone.
I don’t want my private life to be monitored by anyone.

Governments are involved in a real life game of bad guys vs. good guys which leads to all sorts of crimes: killing people with drones, wars, and spying on people, etc.
The drones are another topic all by themselves!
