Read to Write Third Edition  is a collection of reformulated student writing designed to provide Japanese students with comprehensible input of the type of language that teachers ask them to produce in writing classes. Covering ten basic topics including self-introductions, school life, and families, the book trains students to pick up ‘chunks’ of language and identify underlying patterns that they can use to make similar sentences about themselves. An English Writing Manual explains in simple language the basic conventions of English writing layout and the mechanics of English sentence construction. A Japanese version of the manual is provided for lower-level students. This third edition of the book now contains “one-point” explanations (with exercises) of more than 70 common errors that Japanese learners typically make when they write in English.
